Career Advice for Your Child After GCSEs: What Actually Helps
Sixteen is a strange age to be asked to make decisions with real, lasting consequences. Well-meaning advice like "just pick something you enjoy" or "keep your options open" is common, and often not that useful in practice. Enjoying a subject at school doesn't reliably predict enjoying the career built around it, English at GCSE and a career in journalism, for instance, involve genuinely different skills and different pressures.
